Why This Retreat?

Are you a career-driven entrepreneur, a stay at home mum or someone in-between, challenged with the never-ending juggle of responsibilities, demands and expectations?

Do you often run on a hectic schedule, not eating well or exercising enough, maybe even suffering from interrupted sleep with no real-time for friends and loved ones?

You want to be the best version of yourself in all of your roles — as a partner, mum, sister, daughter, friend, colleague, leader, creative, businesswoman (you name it!)… While still remembering to eat healthily, work out regularly, stay up to date with the news, trends and social media… While looking attractive and always wearing THAT smile.

(Have you ever seen anyone juggling that many balls without dropping any?)

Life in the fast lane can get overwhelming, TOO MUCH, and you find yourself wishing you had a magical PAUSE button, so you can escape getting some well-deserved rest.

The trick is… you do have this button at hand, you always did. It’s just that you don’t yet know how to use it because you’ve been conditioned to be always available and on the go.

But you see…

Taking a break for self-care is not an indulgence.

It’s not something you do only when the world gets crazy or when you’re facing burnout.

It’s your everyday choices, even the smallest ones.

It’s the ultimate commitment to yourself and act of self-respect.

It’s about feeling fiercely ALIVE, with every cell of your being. Thriving, not surviving.

Ironically, when you learn to truly care for yourself, you are actually in a much stronger place to give of yourself to the world. You will be a more patient parent, a more engaged partner, a more productive team player, a more creative entrepreneur.

All because the energy you’re giving doesn’t come at your own cost.

Now imagine…

Imagine you’re sitting on a gorgeous rooftop terrace with silence as your backdrop and peace as your company. No distractions, no pressures from your day-to-day responsibilities, just views of the picturesque fishing town and the ocean.

As the gentle breeze caresses your face, you take in the energising buzz of your morning yoga and meditation session.

See yourself having heartfelt conversations with beautiful, growth-minded women of all walks of life. Feel inspired on how you can unlearn to NOT always be ‘up for grabs’ for others.

Jump on a boat to spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach surrounded by the tranquillity of turquoise water, while we all bond chatting, drinking wine and enjoying the sun.

Give yourself permission to have a break and experience 5 glorious days where you sleep well, eat deliciously healthy food and laugh till your belly hurts. Where you can rejuvenate your mind, soul and your physical body.

You feel at ease because you understand there are huge benefits of putting yourself first, without feeling guilty, selfish or unproductive.

Since you’ve read this far, here’s your invitation to retreat from all the noise and chatter of your daily responsibilities.

It’s time for you to decide that you deserve to unplug, unwind and commit from the depth of your heart: now me.

What our previous retreat looked like?

May 2019, Sardinia

Joanne Penny – Fun & Experiences

“The highlight of my retreat with you was connecting with ladies who I had never met before and accepting that you are not alone in certain aspects of your life. I truly found the power of us all feeling safe enough to step into the unknown (well, the really cold bloody sea!) and attempting surfing, pushing our boundaries together, which was such a strong and positive experience. Thank you Yvette and Kat!”

Leyla Cook – Empowering

“Lifechanging! As a retreat junkie, It was very different to any other retreats that I have attended.  I certainly met my objective of having fun… But the best thing about the retreat was how EMPOWERED I felt. Being able to come face to face with myself… not the mother, the wife but ME! It was wonderful. I especially loved the leaders philosophy with regards to the workshops and sessions combined with the fun elements and the surprise activity (surfing!) that was about pushing boundaries. Being with a group of women that bonded so well I really rediscovered parts of myself that I had buried. I’m looking forward to the promises of new beginnings and possibilities. My only wish is that we could have had longer. Absolutely fabulous and so much fun. Thank you.”

Cath Morritt – Stop People Pleasing

“I don’t recall the last time I took time out for myself in this way. At first I wrestled with thinking it was a luxury only to realise that this was food for my soul. I was able to discuss things that matter to me and redefine my priorities where I fit into my own life again. A priority for me was to really dedicate some time to think about what my wants and needs were, and I certainly achieved that. I loved every minute, especially surfing, who’d have thought? I really left feeling that I reconnected with myself… as I remember before the boys… and had guilt-free fun, laughs and time to reflect on what’s next. Thanks ladies.”

Verity Critchlow – Self Acceptance

“This is the first time in my adult life that I have travelled by myself. So I took the opportunity to go to Sardinia a few days ahead of the ladies. I was so excited to be able to spend some solitary time soaking up the island. I really didn’t think it could get any better and then it was topped off with joining the ladies on the retreat where I made new friends, bonded with like-minded women… as well as see a whole new side of myself that was in fact safely tucked away. Not anymore though, I’m fully out there now!”

Karen – Fun & Creativity

“I knew I needed a break so this retreat came at the right time. I love my job, but I hardly spend time away from my desk, doing things that bring me personal joy. On this retreat I was able to rediscover what I love and work through how I could incorporate it into my schedule when I get back home. As for yoga I was more than pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed it (as I had written it off due to past experiences). It’s definitely up there on the list of things to do for myself, this was a real connecting piece for me overall. I’m now back on track and will keep refueling my life with fun and creativity.”

Yvette Puliga

yvette puliga yplms

Yvette Puliga is the Founder of YPLMS — a Lifestyle concierge service for people who want to take their personal and professional lives to the next level — while being free from overwhelm, frustration, worry and self-doubt.

Her journey started nearly 25 years ago, when (after a life-altering event) Yvette started her first mentoring business and turned her career around. She has worked as a life, health and business coach, providing a more fulfilled lifestyle through transformational mind-body solutions.

She puts her clients back in control of their lives, by guiding and supporting them each step of the way with her team of experts and specialists.

Aside from business, she herself is a midlife woman, mother, wife and entrepreneur, and she feels fully conversant with the challenges this can bring, both from a personal and professional level.

She’s also often mistaken as working within fashion, due to her quirky sense of style and peculiar attention to detail.

Yvette loves sport in any form (as long as it doesn’t involve water)… but since she loves challenges more, she pushed herself to overcome that fear on a recent retreat, too! Who knows, maybe surfing will become her next thing?

Kat Achtelik

kat achtelik cheeky yoga club

Kat is a copywriter, meditation and Yoga teacher — and a creator of Cheeky Yoga Club. She’s passionate about movement, psychology, Tantra and everything that makes us feel alive.

She started her adventure with personal growth back in 2011, while working as a copywriter for Mindvalley in Malaysia. However, that still didn’t save her from making some pretty self-destructive lifestyle choices.

She ended up not only overweight, but also suffering from severe lower back pain… not to mention the rock-bottom self-esteem and missing self-love.

This is when she decided to try this ‘yoga thingy’ that people were raving about. 5 years (and 55 pounds less) later, she lives and breathes self-discovery, growth and healing.

Although she received her yoga teacher certification in Vinyasa-Ashtanga, her approach is a mix of different styles of movement — and is all about keeping it FUN-ctional.

Aside from business and yoga, Kat is a globetrotter and a photographer (which even landed her a job as a travel journalist in the past). She loves learning new skills and recently added a screenwriting certificate to her tool kit. As cheesy as it sounds, she’s passionate about life in all its lunacy and majesty.

When & Where

26th February – 1st March 2020

Casa Fuzetta in Olhão, Portugal

There’s no place quite like Casa Fuzetta. From the moment you arrive at this historic villa, you begin to experience the magic of Portugal. Just imagine yourself relaxing by the stunning rooftop pool or taking a break in the peaceful meditation room, with sunshine gently coming through coloured glass ceiling windows…

Originally, a classical gentleman’s residence, it was lovingly restored by the new owners. Since it’s been re-opened, the enchanting Casa Fuzetta has been mentioned in the various international media like Forbes, Monocle, Elle and The Telegraph — just to name a few.

The villa is located in the heart of an old fishing town Olhão — amongst cobbled streets, colourful tiles, the (unexpectedly) vibrant art scene and family-run restaurants.

The town also rubs shoulders with a few charming islands: Armona, Culatra, Farol and Deserta. The first two — Ilha da Culatra and Ilha da Armona — belong to the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a protected area with a unique ecosystem, featuring swamps, lagoons and sand dunes.

FAQ

1/ Is this a women-only retreat?

Yes. Whether you’re self-employed or in a corporate job… Whether you’re single or a stay at home mum of three… Whatever your age, background or story — join us to take a break and learn how to prioritise yourself. Give yourself permission to disconnect from your roles, demands and ditch the need to constantly prove yourself — especially when you’re everyone’s Go-To Person.

2/ Can I come with my teenage daughter?

The retreat is designed to help adult women (with their busy schedules) to detach from their daily roles and responsibilities. That includes all the demands of being a mum.

A teenager might not be able to relate to the majority of the subjects that we’ll cover during our workshops. That being said, all of the sessions are optional, so she can skip them if she wants to.

We don’t know your daughter, we don’t know the relationship between you two. If you feel like this would be the right place to bring her and it wouldn’t stop you or other participants from benefitting from the experience, we leave this decision up to you.

*Please note that there will be wine involved during our evening chats over dinner.

3/ So… what about *wine? 🍷

Like everything else, it’s your choice whether you want to drink or not. You’ll receive a bottle of Portuguese wine in your welcome goodie bag — and you can choose to drink it during the retreat, give it to someone else or to take it home. Please note that the rest of alcoholic beverages are NOT included in the retreat price, BUT (if the group feels like it) we can always get our supplies in a local shop.

4/ What if I don’t want to attend the workshops — will that be seen as rude

Absolutely not. We’ve created this retreat for YOU: a safe space for you to breath and learn how to say NO when you feel it isn’t what you want to do. We want you to reconnect with yourself and learn to be authentic in a way that fills your soul. If before a scheduled session you decide you need time out to nap, read or swim in the pool… by all means, go for it. Our sole aim is for you to refuel in a way that suits you.

5/ How do I secure my spot?

Please know that there are only 19 spaces available. Your spot at the retreat will be secured when you make the first payment: either the full price or the deposit (50% of the price). Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.

6/ What’s your refund policy?

If you want to cancel before 2 months of the retreat start day (before 26th December 2019) and you paid the full price, we’ll refund you 50%. The 50% deposit is non-refundable.

We regret that any cancellations within 2 months or less (from 26th December 2019 onwards) of the retreat start date are completely non-refundable.

In both cases, your payments are transferable to another person for the same date and room requirements (upgrades from a shared to a single room might be available — please email us for details).

We sometimes have a waiting list so please do enquire to see if we have anyone waiting for tickets that you can resell your space. We cannot promise we’ll be able to help you sell your spot.

In the unlikely event, we have to cancel a retreat, we will offer you a refund in full (including your deposit).

7/ Do you have a payment plan?

Yes, before 16th December 2019 there’s an option of paying in 2 installments (50% x 2). The first installment is your non-refundable deposit.

The remaining balance (50%) is due in full 60 days (26th January 2020) before the retreat start date.

From 16th December onwards we only accept payments in full.

We do not offer any discounts for a guest arriving late or leaving early.

If you sign up to the payment plan, you are agreeing to pay the full price of the retreat and you are responsible to pay the total as per the agreement you sign up to.

All associated booking enquiries to changes should be made through us in the first instance,  should you require anything extra, i.e. a change from sharing to a single room please contact: yplmsretreat@gmail.com We will do our utmost best to accommodate your requirements.

8/ Who owns the photography rights? What if I do not want to be included in public photography?

We’re hiring an amazing female photographer to join us for one day to take pictures of the venue, our group and the sessions. We’re intending to use them for marketing purposes and to promote our future retreats.

You have a choice for your face to be excluded from the promotional materials — we’ll only use group shots where you cannot be recognised. This will have to be communicated at the beginning of the retreat.

9/ Do I need a visa to enter Portugal?

You may need a Passport and/or a Visa, depending on the country you live in. Citizens from the European Community don’t need a Visa for entering Portugal. More details here: https://portugal.com/portugal/travel-tips/entering-portugal
