Would you ever tell your child, your partner or anyone you love:
‘Please… DON’T take care of yourself.’
‘Please… DON’T take time to figure yourself out.’
‘Please …DON’T feel better. Don’t have a rest.’
Of course, you wouldn’t.
Yet, you’re probably a pro at feeling guilty for taking time out for yourself — aren’t you?
Whether your life feels overwhelmingly busy or empty (or both at the same time), it’s time to understand that self-care is not about luxury.
It’s about self-respect.
It’s about waking up buzzing and falling asleep fulfilled.
It’s about feeling fiercely ALIVE, with every cell of your being. Thriving, not surviving.
You owe it to yourself. And if that’s not convincing or motivating enough, please know that…
It’s not only about you.
By (not) taking care of yourself, you’re sending a message to people around you.
Your kids, partner, friends — they are all watching. If you want to inspire them to live a better life, you have to SHOW THEM, not tell them.
But it goes even deeper.
If you find giving more rewarding than receiving, remember that you need to give to yourself first, before you can give to others.
You can’t pour from an empty cup.
You can do what you love and still be tired. You can do what you love and still become burnt out. You can do what you love and still get excited about taking a break.
